Welcome to the Brown & Crouppen Acetaminophen page.  Brown & Crouppen has enjoyed over a quarter of a century of success based on our commitment to provide our clients with the best possible service throughout Missouri and the United States, and to make a genuine difference in people’s lives. We have represented many of those injured by unsafe drugs and medical devices. Our attorneys have worked hard to ensure that negligent manufacturers and suppliers are held accountable for the injuries and fatalities caused by their unsafe products. With the support of some of the nation’s premier drug litigation specialists, Brown & Crouppen has tackled some of the more well known prescription cases including Rezulin™, Fen-Phen™, Lotronex™, OxyContin™, Prempro™, Baycol™, PPA™, and Zyprexa™.

While the potential of adverse health effects is well known among prescription pharmaceuticals, there are also dangers associated with over-the-counter (OTC) medications such as acetaminophen. In January 2004, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) sent a letter to the State Boards of Pharmacy regarding important safety issues for all products that contain Acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Research has shown that people who frequently use acetaminophen or take higher than recommended dosage are at risk for liver and kidney damage, and gastrointestinal bleeding. If you or a loved one has suffered ill-health related to acetaminophen, or paracetamol and N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (APAP), please contact the Brown & Crouppen firm. Our attorneys have helped have helped thousands of clients receive over 200 million dollars in settlements and awards for damages in personal injury cases. We may be able to help you.

OTC drugs have many benefits – aspirin is used to help some heart patients, and ibuprofen has been found to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and some cancers. Acetaminophen is one of the most widely used pain-relievers in the U.S. and can be found in more than 100 products, including the prescription drugs Darvocet and oxycodone-acetaminophen (Percocet). While generally safe in short-term use, chronic use of the drug can cause liver and kidney damage and gastrointestinal bleeding. An overdose of acetaminophen may be fatal. Those who drink excessive alcohol or have kidney disease are at even more risk and should avoid acetaminophen and related-products.

Because OTC drugs do not require a prescription, many mistakenly believe that these medications are completely safe. On the contrary, it has been found that those people who have used acetaminophen on a regular basis nearly doubled their risk of kidney cancer. The FDA is currently reviewing proposed package labeling changes warning of the risks associated with acetaminophen use. In the interim, the agency is in the midst of a campaign to educate the public on the dangers of the medication and ways to reduce detrimental health effects.

At Brown & Crouppen, we recognize the tactics that powerful drug makers use to market their products and avoid responsibility for the suffering they cause. If you or someone you love has been injured because of their use of acetaminophen, we urge you to contact a qualified attorney who has expertise in personal injury and product liability claims. Call Brown & Crouppen. At Brown & Crouppen our experienced team of lawyers provides tough, aggressive representation for victims and their families. When you choose us to handle your lawsuit, our entire team becomes fully committed to your cause. We’ll find answers, hold negligent companies responsible and get you the compensation you deserve.
